The first night club I used to sing in Athens. I was looking for a place to work while I was attending the Athens Conservatoire in krder to cover my expenses. But most of all I wanted to sing and live the dream. So after about five months of looking for a job we went with a friend to a night club he was going often and that night we went together even though theoretically he knew that I could sing, he said to the owner ” I have this young man with me and can he sing a song? he has a good voice ” then he wispered in my ear ” I hope you sing well and not dissapoint me. I kept asking him to recommend me to any of the night clubs he was going but it took awhile.
I got on the stage and sang, and he was very impressed to hear me sing. When I got off the stage he said to me ” Petros you are very good” and I got the job and got my first payment in Athens, January of 1988
I worked for forty days and got paid for thirty days. Here I sing the song “Kathismenos sto pagkaki” that Parios had sang it.
How funny, behind me the two female singers singing secondo with carnations all over even though the audience were goofing I was singing quality songs and paying attention to every detail on my art and I though that people were respecting and paying attention. What purity and imperfection as well.
I had a great joy and I was thinking that somewhere around here Alexiou, Dalaras, Parios and somewhere there might be Kazantzidis. I had joined my dream even in this level and quality and I was satisfied that I didn’t have to ask my parents for more money. I had found the way. Anneta Acharnon
